Jack the Ripper Walk

Jack the Ripper Walk

THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE FEEL OF THE MURDERS THAT SHOCKED LONDON IN 1888.

WHY NOT TAKE A JACK THE RIPPER WALK

CLICK HERE TO ENJOY OUR WORLDFAMOUS JACK THE RIPPER WALK.

A Jack the Ripper Walk makes the ideal way to uncover the truth behind the murders that really did shake Victorian London to its very core in 1888.

By 1888 the middle and upper classes were becoming very afraid of the dispossessed citizens who lived in the East End of London. Indeed many of them were casting nervous glances to that East End, and in particular the districts of Whitechapel and Spitalfields.

Many of those 'respectable' citizens were convinced that a revolution was imminent and they knew full well that if it came it would come out of the cramped slums of the East End.

To really get the feel of what the streets were like when Jack the Ripper stalked the shadows you have to walk. There is no other way to do it. Coach or bus tours through Jack the Ripper's London just won't give you the same experience. You will sit looking out of the window and be told that "down that alley" Jack the Ripper did this" or "Jack the Ripper did that." By viewing the streets through a bus window you just don't get the atmosphere. By walking you go straight into those Whitechapel streets, alleyways and passageways that are still as they were in 1888. The feeling you get is truly sinister, in short these places make the perfect backcloth against which the Jack the Ripper history can unfold.

We offer the only Jack the Ripper Walk to take you immediately into the streets and alleyways as they were in 1888. Here you can get the true ambience of that long ago autumn of terror when death stalked the shadows and London quivered in the darkness. Step by step you find yourself treading further back in time, as you pass in and out of the shadows. Indeed, you will begin to get the feeling that you are a witness to those long ago events, and gain a true understanding of just how the ripper murders effected the neighbourhood. And to help with that insight we will show you unique photogrpahs of Jack the Ripper's London. Many of those photographs are unique to our Jack the Ripper Walk, since Richard Jones has been collecting pictures of Victorian London for his new book "Uncovering Jack the Ripper's London."

Many of those who have taken our walk have commented on what a moving experience it is to stand on a modern spot and be shown a photograph of what it was like in 1888. Ask yourself, would you prefer to simply be told that something happened on the site on which you are standing, or shown a photograph of what that site was like when that something happened? Silly question really don't you think? That is why

Our Jack the Ripper Walk is truly unique.

It is the only one to start at the heart of the area, it is a truly spooky route and one that from the outset will give you the true ambience of Victorian London.

In addition our Jack the Ripper Walk is the ONLY one that actually shows you the police station where the officers who investigated the Jack the Ripper murders were based. Although it has now been converted into flats it still has the original police sign over its doorway, and the actual building is just as it was in the days when Jack the Ripper held the area roundabouts in a grip of terror.
