It is 1888, and a sinister figure is on the prowl in the East End of London. Dare you join our ultimate murder mystery and set out to hunt him through the old streets and cobbled alleyways of Whitechapel? That is what you will have to do on our unique and highly original Jack the Ripper Treasure Hunt.

Inspector Abberline Your host

To begin with you gather in the pub that became the focus for the initial investigation into the Whitechapel Murders. Your teams will be met by Inspector Frederick George Abberline, the man who led the on the ground detectives as they hunted the killer through the streets and alleyways hereabouts. He will present you your Jack the Ripper Treasure Hunt Packs. These will consist of a magnifying glass, a copy of The Times newspaper from 1888. This an actual 19th century newspaper and in its pages you will lead of the latest Jack the Ripper atrocity to have shocked London. You will also be given a copy of Bakers East End Street Map for 1888 which your team will use to get them around the Jack the Ripper Treasure Hunt route.

The Ten Bells Pub

Having been briefed you will set off into the Streets of Victorian Whitechapel to pick your way around the murder sites where you will gather clues, sift through evidence and try your hardest to get to grips with what is without doubt the world's most famous murder mystery.

WHAT MAKES OUR JACK THE RIPPER TREASURE HUNT SO SPECIAL?

Our treasure hunt was devised by Richard Jones who has been conductinG walks around Jack the Ripper's London since 1983. He is an acknowledged expert on the subject and has even appears on the DVD that accompanies the Johnny Depp film From Hell discussing who Jack the Ripper was. He also presented the History Channel's The Hunt For Jack the Ripper and was the resident historian for Living TV's cult Most Haunted Live when over Halloween 2005 they set out to solve the mystery of the Jack the Ripper murders. He wrote and presented the acclaimed drama documentary Unmasking Jack the Ripper, which the leading Jack the Ripper journal Ripperologist described as "probably the best [Jack the Ripper] documentary to be made in recent years." He is currently working on his new book Uncovering Jack the Ripper's London, which will be published in 2006 and for which he has conducted in depth research into the streets alleyways and passageways where the Jack the Ripper story was played out. To help make your quest an enjoyable and entertaining one, we will have several actors and actresses dressed in Victorian costume, going about there every day business in the places you will visit. One of them is vital for you to find since she holds information that can help you in your hunt. The other, well let's just say you most certainly DO NOT want to meet him! But one wrong turn, one clue misread and you'll walk straight into his clutches.

All in all our Jack the Ripper Treasure Hunt offers you a combination of Murder Mystery and problem solving that can be done for fun, or can make an unusual and original team building exercise. And what with the original 1888 maps and the copies of The Times in which you will be able to read contemporary articles pertaining to the murders and streets through which you will be racing, you will gain a vivid insight into the Jack the Ripper murders.

Each Treasure Hunt includes a series of photo challenges that you must carry out as you go round. Some of them are easy, getting a snap of a couple in love should be a doddle! But where on earth are you going to find a Victorian villain to chase. I wonder?

You can end the jack the Ripper Treasure Hunt at a curry house on Brick Lane which actually occupies a building that was linked to the case, or you can go back to the pub where Jack the Ripper drank and enjoy a buffet or Fish and Chip supper.
