THE JACK THE RIPPER WALK

WELCOME TO THE JACK THE RIPPER WALK

Our Jack the Ripper Walk offers you a fascinating journey back in time to a long ago era when an unknown terror lurked in the slums of the East End of London and the whole of the Capital walked in fear. The tour wends its way through the creepy backstreets and even creepier narrow alleyways that provided the backcloth against which the Jack the Ripper saga was played out in the autumn of 1888.

When you join our walk you can be certain that all our guides our experts on the world's most famous sequence of unsolved murders and you can rest assured that your Jack the Ripper Walk will be led by someone who is up to date on every twist and turn of this fascinating mystery. But we also encourage you to get involved and you are free to ask any questions you may have and discuss your own theories.

In addition, the route we follow on our Jack the Ripper Walk has been carefully paced out to ensure that you get the true ambience of the 1880's from the moment you set out from Aldgate East Station where our tour begins. Within a few short steps you have passed under a time worn arch and are standing on the actual cobbles over which one of the earliest of the Whitechapel Murder victims walked on the night she was killed. No other Jack the Ripper Walk can boast such a dramatic start and consequently, with our tour, you begin to get the atmosphere of that long ago era of gaslight and fog very early on in the evening.

Of course some of the buildings associated with the crimes are no longer there, but don't worry on our tour we pass amongst you genuine Victorian photographs of the actual streets through which you will be walking that were taken in the early 1890's. In this way you will really get the feel of what the area was like at the end of the 19th century and will be able to build up a vivid mental image of the atumn of terror and of the people who lived through it.

When you choose to take our Jack the Ripper Walk you will not be taken round by a resting actor who is simply reciting from a script. The guides who will tell you the story have been studying the case for years and yet are able to bring the streets of Victorian London to life. Their presentation is both dramatic and entertaining, whilst the verbal picture they will paint of the very streets through which you will be walking really will convince you that you've been spirited back in time. Many of the people who join our walk comment on how their guides enthusiasm and obvious passion for the history of the area really did add to their enjoyment and understanding.

As your guide leads you through the shadowy backstreets you will hear about clues that the killer may have left behind, and you will visit the sites where witnesses may have seen Jack the Ripper with his victims. As you walk your guide will discuss the importance of each witness sighting and you will be able to draw your own conclusions as to the importance of each one of the clues.

So if you want a Jack the Ripper Walk that is expert led, which is both dramatic and chilling - yet fascinating and accurate - then follow our trail of terror into the streets of Whitechapel and Spitalfields where each step taken will bring you that little bit closer to the truth behind one of the world's greatest unsolved mysteries. The shadows are waiting, but dare you enter them?
